The Modulator is an electronic siren produced by Federal Signal Corporation. It is the second generation in the Modulator series. It is comprised of cells that contain four 100 watt compression driver speakers a piece, with a "dummy" cell that is empty to help even out sound distribution. The siren works by sound being projected downward through an opening underneath each cell, it then bounces off the top of the cell underneath the opening and is projected outward. The "dummy" on the bottom does not contain any speakers, it is used to help even out the sound distribution from the last active cell in the stack.
