Upson County, GA

Upson County is a county located in the west central Piedmont portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. Its population of roughly 27,700 people is served by a system of 31 sirens spread generously throughout Thomaston, the county seat, and the surrounding areas. It is tested on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 1 PM, weather permitting, in about 1 minute of alert (attack before the mid-2010s). Upson is well-known among siren enthusiasts in Georgia for its usage of refurbished older sirens supplied by Jeb McCranie of the Rhine, GA-based McCranie Warning Systems, purchasing numerous restored Federal Signal and ACA sirens in recent years.
