The Predetermined/Standard General Alarm timer is a series of signal timers that was produced by Federal Signal Corporation, intended for fire stations to use to sound their fire siren for calls. They are capable of (depending on the model) 2 3-minute signals, these being the "alarm" (attack) signal and "test" signal.

History and Design

The PGA is primarily used for general alarm sirens, allowing them to sound an up and down scale wailing signal for a predetermined time. The standard PGA timer produces a timing of 8-seconds ON, 4-seconds OFF; repeated 10 times in a two minute cycle. There are a few known models, including the PGA and SGA timers. These are much less common than the AX and FC timers Federal produced.
