Federal Signal General/Predetermined Alarm controller
Company Federal Signal Corporation
Produced ???
Type Siren controller

The Predetermined General Alarm (PGA) and Standard General Alarm (SGA), designated Model Z115/220 (depending on voltage), are signal timers that were produced by Federal Signal Corporation. These were mainly marketed to fire stations as a cheap timer for a siren that only needed to sound a single signal. They are capable of (depending on the model) 2 3-minute signals, these being the "alarm" (attack) signal and "test" signal.

History and Design

Predetermined General Alarm

The PGA is primarily used for general alarm sirens, allowing them to sound an up and down scale wailing signal for a predetermined time. The standard PGA timer produces a timing of 8-seconds ON, 4-seconds OFF; repeated 10 times in a two minute cycle. There are a few known models, including the PGA and SGA timers. These are much less common than the AX and FC timers Federal produced.
