The Modulator II is an electronic siren produced by [[:Category:Federal Signal Corporation|Federal Signal Corporation]]. It is the second generation in the Modulator series. It is comprised of cells that contain four 100 watt compression driver speakers a piece, with a "dummy" cell that is empty to help even out sound distribution. The siren works by sound being projected downward through an opening underneath each cell, it then bounces off the top of the cell underneath the opening and is projected outward. The "dummy" on the bottom does not contain any speakers, it is used to help even out the sound distribution from the last active cell in the stack.

Each active cell contains up to four 100W compression drivers and directs sound downward to the top of the cell below it, where it is redirected outward. The Modulator was available in eight models, the MOD1004, MOD2008, MOD3012, MOD4016, MOD5020, MOD6024, MOD6032 and MOD6048. The models can be identified by the number if cells the siren has, but the model numbers only correspond to the number of active cells it has and the total number of speaker drivers. (E.g. The MOD2008 means it has 2 active cells, plus 1 "dummy" cell, and 8 total drivers.)
The model number refers to the number of active cells, minus the bottom dummy cell, and drivers, of which a cell can have up to four. The first digit refers to the number of active cells in the siren and the last two refer to the number of drivers. For instance, the MOD2008 has two active cells with four drivers each, making eight drivers, plus a dummy cell on the bottom.

Modulator Siren Series
Company Federal Signal Corporation
Produced 1990-2013
Type Electronic
Sound output 106-125 dBc at 100 feet
Preceded by EOWS Series
Succeeded by Modulator II

The Modulator was an electronic siren produced by Federal Signal Corporation. It is modular, containing a variable number of cells. Each active cell contains up to four 100W compression drivers and directs sound downward to the top of the cell below it, where it is redirected outward. The bottom-most cell is a dummy to direct sound from the lowest active cell.

Models

The model number refers to the number of active cells, minus the bottom dummy cell, and drivers, of which a cell can have up to four. The first digit refers to the number of active cells in the siren and the last two refer to the number of drivers. For instance, the MOD2008 has two active cells with four drivers each, making eight drivers, plus a dummy cell on the bottom.

Model Image Output Drivers Notes
MOD1004 106 4
MOD2008 112 8
MOD3012 115 12
MOD3024 119 24 Same cell count as the 3012, but with 8 drivers per cell.
MOD4016 118 16
MOD5020 120 20
MOD6024 121 24
MOD6032 123 32
MOD6048 125 48 These units are found with 2 controllers on it.
