The United Kingdom, Britain in particular, is well known for its sirens. While the number of sirens has massively dwindled today, sirens could be found everywhere during the Second World War to warn of incoming Axis air raids. These sirens were largely ordered by the British government, and most ceased production after the war.

The vast majority of sirens were 10/12-port dual tone sirens running at 50hz, which has become the most iconic "air raid siren" sound often featured in films and TV shows, even in locations where such sirens wouldn't exist. While sirens are no longer used for air raids and most have been removed, there are still plenty in service today as flood, escape, or industrial plant sirens. Some companies continue to produce sirens to this day, although the siren market in Britain is far more limited than in North America.
