The company Julius Pintsch AG, based out of Berlin, Germany, was one of the most important in the field of lighting. Originally founded in 1843 as a building plumbing company, it existed under this name from 1907 to 1924 and then became Pintsch Bamag AG through a merger with Bamag Meguin AG. Today it belongs to Schaltbau Holding AG.
On April 9, 1958, the Federal Office for Civil Protection awarded PINTSCH BAMAG AG in Butzbach, Hesse, the order to develop a compressed air siren. An air distributor (or sound generator or rotor/stator unit) should be specially developed here. The order receives order number 50 697 from PINTSCH BAMAG AG. “Anlage 1” was probably brought to series production in 1960. In addition to the model system in Butzbach, the first two series HLS were probably built in Giessen. However, the exact date is not known. This was followed in 1961 by further facilities in Neheim, Ense, Meschede and Garching. Around 1964, there was increasing evidence of financial problems at Pintsch Bamag AG, which was looking for investors.
