An orthographic projection of South America, highlighted in green.

South America is a continent entirely in the Western Hemisphere and mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, with a considerably smaller portion in the Northern Hemisphere. South America is bordered on the west by the Pacific Ocean and the north and east by the Atlantic Ocean. Its population as of 2021 has been estimated at more than 434 million. Unlike their northern counterparts, South American sirens are lesser known and rarely discussed. Despite this, the siren market in South America is alive and well, with several manufacturers and distributors located across the continent. Sirens in South America are used for varying purposes, most commonly floods, earthquakes, and industrial accidents. Traditional electromechanical sirens are most common to see, though newer electronic sirens follow close behind.
