Like the rest of the world, Asia has a wide variety of sirens used for various different purposes. Sirens were widespread during the Second World War to warn of air raids, and today sirens are often used for ceremonial purposes, or for public notification such as fire sirens, tsunami sirens, or even musical sirens such as ones built by Yamaha.
