Asia is the largest continent in the world by both land area and population. In general terms, it is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean, and on the north by the Arctic Ocean. Its 4.7 billion people constitute roughly 60% of the world's population. Like the rest of the world, Asia has a wide variety of sirens used for various different purposes. Sirens were widespread during World War II in Asia to warn of air raids, and today sirens are often used for ceremonial purposes, or for public notification such as fire sirens, tsunami sirens, or even musical sirens such as ones built by Yamaha.
