Category:Omnidirectional Sirens
An omnidirectional siren produces sound in a 360° radius at all times, in contrast to rotational sirens, which project sound at maximum volume in only 1 direction at a time. Omnidirectional sirens may utilize horns, skirts, or other methods to effectively project sound outward. While these sirens usually do not achieve the same raw decibel output or range as rotational sirens, they offer the advantage of lower maintenance. They do not depend on a rotating mechanism that could require belts, chains, or other parts that may wear out and fail over time. Typically, omnidirectional sirens have only 1 moving part, which is the rotor. These sirens can be designed either vertically or horizontally and may incorporate one or more rotors and motors.
